What Love is
11:34 AMGood Morning,
I am reading and participating in a study of the book "The Living Room Series: What Love Is" by Kelly Minter. It is a fantastic Bible study book that walks you through the letters of 1,2,3 John. It takes you deep into the Word. I have always been a little afraid of the letters from John. They seemed heavy and confusing. Going through this study I have been challenged a lot, in such a good way. I am almost done with the study but the things I have been excited to re-learn are...
1. Walk in the Light
"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." - 1 John 1:5
This is so important to walk in the light with other brothers and sisters in Christ. There is such freedom in walking in the light. I have never experienced greater fellowship than walking in the light and laying my sins out on the table to be exposed. It is a very scary thing...but it is necessary and God promises fellowship because of our willingness to do so...sweet fellowship.
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another.." - 1 John 1:7
It is such a beautiful promise and it is so worth our pride.
2. Jesus is our Advocate
" My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. - John 2:1-2
This verse gives me such peace...he is our Advocate. He loves us, He fights for us, He is our GREATEST advocate. He is the perfect advocate because He is a righteous advocate. He is righteous and pure and he wants to fight and lay down His life for me?! That just blows me away. I have done nothing...nothing...and he wants to be my advocate.
More to come on this study and what I have learned...but the laundry is calling.
I hope you are blessed by this and if you would like your own book it is on Amazon but you can also find it Here. (I am not affiliated with these links, I just wanted to make it easy for you)
The words and opinions are my own, they are no reflection of Kelly Minter or "What Love Is".
